Amy Zehfuss,                     Founder & Principal

Amy Zehfuss founded Springboard Strategy to lead businesses large and small through business strategy planning, innovation and product development, and execution that delivers material growth.

Springboard’s clients include Turner Sports, General Assembly, Blue Sky Agency, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Georgia Health Policy Center and Emory University.

Zehfuss’s approach to innovation has been covered by the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, NPR, Hollywood Reporter and Business Digest. Her work was also cited by Scott Anthony, co-author of Innovator’s Guide to Growth, which explores implementation strategies by companies such as Procter & Gamble and SAP and is available on Amazon and through Harvard Business Review.

Zehfuss brings decades of leadership in business strategy and innovation at Turner Entertainment and Spanx, where she was previously Chief of Staff and EVP of Strategy charged with creating a strategy function.

While at Turner, Zehfuss held increasingly senior finance, strategy and innovation roles culminating in VP of Strategy Development. She oversaw strategy design, execution and communications for television brands TNT, TBS, truTV and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in the $7 billion Turner Entertainment Network division of Time Warner, and set the strategic agenda to double the business over 12 years.

Key results include leading the investment case for TNT Originals, an in-house studio that has produced nearly 50 television series. TNT boosted original content during prime time to 80%, from 20% previously, a move the Los Angeles Times praised as an “ambitious expansion” for the cable network.

One notable hit was the Emmy and Golden Globe winning show The Closer, which ran for seven seasons and went into syndication, which Broadcasting Cable called one of cable’s “strongest originals.”

Zehfuss also developed a $10 million portfolio of new businesses for Turner Classic Movies including the business case and helped launch the TCM Film Festival, which is attracting a new generation of Millennial fans to the network and bringing in a new stream of revenue. The New York Post declared the TCM Film Festival could go “head-to-head” with the storied Tribeca Film Festival.

Another successful product launch, TV in Context, pairs commercials with relevant scenes in the shows during which they run to boost awareness and increase the likelihood of purchase. TV in Context generated hundreds of millions of dollars in incremental revenue in its first two years, and The New York Times called it an “example of how marketers and networks are collaborating in nontraditional fashion.”

Earlier in her career, Zehfuss was a senior strategist for Viant Consulting on digital projects for clients including Sony and Lehman Brothers, marketing manager for IBM’s Media and Entertainment division and an institutional bank auditor at Nationsbank (now Bank of America).

Zehfuss holds an MBA in strategy and marketing from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, where she currently teaches strategy and problem solving in the MBA program. She also holds a bachelor’s in financial management from Clemson University

She led a women’s mentorship program at Turner for three years and has served as a mentor to Emory University’s MBA Program and LaunchTN Tech Accelerator.
